FAE Development Series

Description:

This 4-day course series introduces the role of Fire Apparatus Engineer for OCFA Firefighters preparing to promote. Instruction covers basic apparatus operations, inspection and maintenance, hydraulics, and an overview of FAE responsibilities. This course series (or CSFM Driver/Operator 1A/1B) is required for promotion to both Fire Apparatus Engineer and Fire Captain. Instruction is primarily classroom-based with some hands-on demonstrations.

Courses 1–3 may be taken in any order. Course 4 must be taken after completing Courses 1–3, as it builds on and applies the information learned in those courses.

No backfill, holdover, or overtime allowed; employees with 5 years of service can receive SA pay.

Dress Code:

Safety equipment is required for all classes. Station uniform, helmet, gloves, and brush coat.
