REQUIREMENTS:
· Currently employed with OCFA
· Class priority will be given to those who do not already possess the CSFM Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician (2021) course
· Must be able to attend all 3 days, SA and SAR is not approved
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This scenario-based training expands on foundational extrication knowledge to address the challenges of modern vehicle construction, advanced restraint systems and evolving powertrain technologies.
Students will engage in multiple hands-on evolutions emphasizing safe, efficient and coordinated extrication operations under realistic conditions. The course incorporates team dynamics, command structure and patient centered rescue tactics consistent with OCFA policy and CSFM standards.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
· Conduct scene size ups and hazard mitigation including vehicle stabilization, power isolation and patient assessment
· Execute multi-point extrications involving side removals, roof flaps, dash rolls/lifts, and tunneling operations
· Operate hydraulic rescue tools under various conditions
· Identify and manage hazards associated with hybrid, electric, and alternative fuel vehicles
· Apply incident command and tactical decision making for complex multi vehicle collisions
· Introduction to large vehicle stabilization, extrication techniques in various scenarios
Staffing:
No backfill, holdover, or overtime authorized.
